Continuing our series, we are honored to host Dr. Cristian Ortiz-Villalón as our third guest. Dr. Ortiz-Villalón is a distinguished expert in pulmonary pathology with an extensive background in both clinical practice and research. He holds an MD from the University of Concepción/University of Valencia, a PhD from Kyoto University, Japan, and a PhD from the University of Valencia, Spain. His notable positions include Head of the Department of Pathology at Karolinska University Hospital-Danderyd, Sweden, and Senior Director of Global Medical Affairs Diagnostics at AstraZeneca. Dr. Ortiz-Villalón has also served as President of the Swedish Society of Pathology and is an Affiliated Professor at Karolinska Institute. His significant contributions include founding Pathology Science OÜ, implementing digital and computational pathology at Karolinska University Hospital, and authoring guidelines for lung cancer, mesothelioma, and ILD.
He will be joined by Dr. Carol Rizkalla. Dr Rizkalla is a second-year AP/CP pathology resident at the University of Washington, who graduated from a six-year undergraduate medicine program at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2022. Dr. Rizkalla is deeply committed to pathology education, particularly through the dissemination of educational material via webinars.
